Cambridge China Forum 2019 provided a new opportunity for innovative Cambridge and UK tech-sector businesses to pitch their companies to well-established Chinese investors with strong international networks and experience.  Representatives from twenty Chinese investment networks participated in both days of Cambridge China Forum 2019.

Jinzhao Li, Director of Cambridge China Centre, explained: “After the 2018 Forum, many of the delegates told us that the most valuable parts of the Forum were the opportunities to connect with investors, technologists, and executives from China.  In response, we organised a separate UK|China Pitch Event in March that generated an overwhelming response from tech-sector entrepreneurs and investors.  When we were designing the agenda for Cambridge China Forum 2019, we decided to feature an expanded Pitch Event as a prominent pillar of the Forum”.

During the Pitch Event, the top 16 companies were selected to take part and give a six-minute pitch followed by brief questions from the investors. The event was divided into two halves with eight companies pitching in each. After each half, there was valuable time for investors and pitching entrepreneurs to connect, continue their conversations and discuss future collaborations.
