Join us for a workshop on understanding the evolving Chinese consumption trends and how to prepare for the huge increase of Chinese tourists expected during Golden Week (1-7 Oct).
The Golden Week is an annual seven-day Chinese national holiday that signals a time when many Chinese tourists travel abroad. The numbers of tourists travelling to the UK from China is steadily increasing and is forecasted to keep rising (Xinhua News), bringing enormous development opportunities to the tourism market.
To welcome the upcoming China Golden Week (1-7 October), Cambridge China Center is providing a special workshop to enable businesses to increase their income from Chinese tourists during that period. The workshop will cover essential areas, including:
- The evolving Chinese consumption trends;
- How to effectively market products to Chinese tourists;
- What kind of discount information can attract Chinese tourists;
- Preparations for a large number of Chinese tourists.
The event lasts for two hours, (2-4 pm) on Wednesday September 10th. Tea and Coffee will be served at the start.
The evolving Chinese outbound consumption trends
The rapidly growing number of outbound tourists in China has directly driven the popularity of overseas consumption. According to the preliminary statistics of the China Tourism Research Institute (CTRI), the number of outbound tourists in China reached 140 million in 2018, 11 million more than 129 million in 2017.
Chinese tourists will take advantage of longer holidays to travel to Europe, and the UK is often the first stop for Chinese tourists in Europe. On average, Chinese tourists spend more than any other nationality. Their average spend of £2,174 is more than three and a half times the global average (CTRI). In addition, Chinese tourists spend longer in the UK than other international visitors, with an average of 15 nights, while other visitors are eight nights, and they spend an average of more than half of their time outside of London.
