This special fundraising (Cambridge Stands with Wuhan) Chinese New Year Gala Dinner was held in Tamburlaine Hotel on 28th January 2020. The dinner and reception not only provided an intimate space for leading business professionals, industry experts, investors to make connections, network and gain insights into Chinese culture but also launched “Cambridge Stands with Wuhan” fundraising campaign. The outbreak of Novel Coronavirus is devastating and China is at the frontline of this severe battle. China is doing everything it could trying to contain the outbreak. Facing this ‘grave situation’, Cambridge China Centre and Cambridge Chinese Community Centre call for all organisations and individuals for urgent donations to help Wuhan and other 14 quarantined cities in Hubei Province.

At the drink reception, all the guests gave their best wishes to Wuhan and hope China will get through this tough time as soon as possible.

Chinese Famous Lanting College of Calligraphy Professor Xiaomin Su especially presented one of his writing scroll “福兴仁合,德曰素明” and the money went to the fundraising campaign.

Simon has a special connection with Wuhan. He expressed his concern about the dangerous situation of people in Wuhan and immediately donated £100 to the fundraising campaign.

Richard from Hilton Cambridge City Centre was giving everyone a red packet for good luck.

Cambridge City Councillor also made a speech to make everyone aware that the more emergency arise, the more need for calm, humanity and unity.

Wonderful Guzheng (also known as a Chinese zither, is a Chinese plucked string instrument with a more than 2500 year history) performance.

BBC Radio Cambridgeshire also broadcasted our funding raising dinner.

With a Chinese-inspired menu designed by the Tamburlaine Michelin chef, a range of Chinese wines, and fun teamworking quiz with prizes, a highly memorable and professionally useful evening was had by all. At the end of the gala dinner, all the guest donated a total amount of more than £1000 for Cambridge Stands with Wuhan” fundraising campaign.
